The Grand Rapids Higher Education Network (GRAHEN) was organized in October of 1997. It was modeled after similar groups throughout the state of Michigan and across the country. The consortium represents 11 area colleges and universities who join forces to promote academic opportunities for adults in the West Michigan area.
 
1997
Representatives from 12 area colleges and universities form GRAHEN. Original Members are:
Aquinas College, Central Michigan University, Cornerstone University, Davenport University, Ferris State University, Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Valley State University, ITT Technical Institute, Michigan State University, Northwood University, Spring Arbor University, Western Michigan University
 
1999
GRAHEN establishes the Outstanding Adult Learner Awards.
 
2001
Western Michigan University designs and hosts GRAHEN’s first Web site.
 
2003
GRAHEN members approve by-laws.
Thomas M. Cooley Law School joins GRAHEN.
 
2006
GRAHEN applies for and receives 501c3 status.
GRAHEN constructs its own domain, www.grahen.org, and updates its Web site.
